Cloud computing is in its early stages as a new platform and the broader implications for widespread adoption have not been fully understood especially from the standpoint of whether it will save money, provide opportunities for applications to reach more people, and ultimately streamline the way software solutions are managed. Editor in chief, Joe Francica, speaks with Mark Doherty, director of strategy for Intergraph to discuss cloud architecture and some of the possible business models such as software as a service (SaaS) and technology infrastructure such as service oriented architecture (SOA). He also provides details on some of the solutions like GeoMedia and G/Technology already offered on Citrix's XenApp platform.
